Montessori Teaching Philosophy

Maria Montessori was born in Italy in 1870 and became the first woman in the country to
earn her doctorate degree. After working with mentally-challenged children she developed a
system of education based on scientific observation and designed a system of materials that
would challenge and honor their growing capabilities

The Montessori Philosophy is based on the idea that every child has the innate urge to learn
and grow, which is facilitated through his interaction with his environment. The Montessori
materials found in the classroom are designed to be manipulated and experimented with,
promoting independence, concentration and creativity.

A big “Thank You” to the loving families that allow me to teach and love their children daily. You are making one of my dreams come true through the development of Thief River's first Montessori Childcare Program!

 NEW TO THE GARDEN

I am very excited as we begin 2018 school year at the Children’s Garden.  We have shared our laughs and love with many beautiful children this past year.  It is always hard to say good bye to friends that graduate from our program or move away from the area.  We are always ready with warm well wishes for each of their success in the new environments they find themselves.  We find our school has shifted from a majority of zero to three to equal class sizes in the three to six program.  I am always amazed at the speed of learning in a child's first years of life, the youngest babies and toddlers have added so much to our program this year!

I wanted to share a few websites that I use as a resource and you might also like to have a look at:
